Real Anime "Witches" Don't Wear Pants

Real Anime "Witches" Don't Wear Pants
09 Jul 2011 04:23:20

On Tuesday, another figure that I pre-ordered arrived at my house, this time being a Nendoroid figure.

At Katsucon 2010, I checked out the dub premiere of Strike Witches. While the show's start was rather weak IMO (note to anime companies: STOP DOING FIRST EPISODES IN WHICH NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS) , once it does pick up (around episode 3), it becomes a interesting title where famous WWII pilots are represented by females who sport animal ears and, like the people in a certain Super Bowl XLIV ad, wear no pants. BTW, don't get me started about the bath scene in episode 4, as I can't believe that both Katsucon and Otakon would show this during the daytime hours without "carding" people.

Getting back to the topic at hand, when it came to the show's characters, the one that won me over was definitely Lynette, the Brit of the team. As expected, part of what attracted me into liking Lynette is the fact that she's another kindhearted cutie, with this one sporting kitty ears when she uses her "witch" powers (she definitely gets bonus points for sharing the same English and Japanese voice actress as another cutie with feline qualities, Kisa Sohma).

While I did look for some some Strike Witches related merchandise at Katsucon 2010, nothing really said "I should buy this" until I saw the early designs of the Lynette Nendoroid, which pretty much put her on my "pre-order ASAP" list well before the painted design was revealed. Thus, when she was finally ready for pre-order, I pretty much went on Hobby Search and ordered my figure.

Talk aside, let's get to the pictures of Lynette in action.

Lynette as she is in the box (outside of putting together the stand that supports her).

Lynette all set to protect her homeland against the Neuroi threat.

Lynette with a reaction that suggests that Yoshika (the main girl in the show and the character that Lynette is closest to in the troop) must have done something off camera

BTW, I originally planned to use that facial expression for Lynette's main post, but I changed my mind when I noticed that it would resemble the main facial expression that I use for the Totori Nendoroid.

My main pose for Lynette. BTW, if you noticed in the picture, a piece of her rifle broke off sometime between the second picture and this picture.

Finally, for those with 3DS systems, here's Lynette in 3D.

With this purchase, that is most likely my final figurine purchase before my big trip to Otakon at the end of the month. Of course, there's a possibility that I may end up buying another figure (or another piece of anime merchandise) between now and Otakon (and of course, I'll post pictures of it if it's a figure).
