Sakurai Joe is the father of Sakurai Nana and the coach of Kakyoin High School. He is the driving force behind the spread of Stride in Japan and is given the nickname "King of Stride". He is voiced by Toru Okawa.

He is known to be very career-focused as he was a dedicated Stride athlete. As such, he never spent much time with Nana since she was in middle school.

He was high school classmates with Dan Yuujirou, Sakura-chan and Kouichi. He was initially promoting the sport in the USA, but returned after being offered the role as a coach for Kakyoin. He also convinced Yagami Tomoe to join him as they met in the USA.
