Kotobukiya online shop bonus: a special A3 Shikishi drawn by Hashimoto Takashi
The next new addition to the ARTFXJ lineup (a bold expansion designed “to bring classic Japanese characters to their fans worldwide”) is a beautiful and unique anime and manga property, Mononoke. A spin-off of Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, the series is a supernatural mystery in which a nameless man encounters strange situations and uncovers the activities of vengeful spirits known as “mononoke.” The Kotobukiya ARTFXJ series now brings you the main character of the anime, the traveling exorcist himself Kusuriuri!
Kusuriuri (which means “Medicine Seller”) is the descriptive name given to the strange man on a mission, and you can bring him home in this fantastic ARTFXJ presentation. The Medicine Seller reclines in a relaxed pose with one foot elevated as he looks you over to check for any mononoke. Just as colorful as the anime, the mystery man wears his distinctive multi-hued kimono that’s a riot of blue, purple, green, yellow, brown, pink, and more. Kusuriuri looks like he leapt right off the screen with his shaggy blonde hair capped by a purple bandana, pale skin, red facial markings, and pointed ears. Just as intricately designed as the Medicine Seller himself is his setting, a circular window revealing a lush colorful landscape.
Sculpted by Takanori Ito, Kusuriuri is nearly 8 inches tall (1/8 scale) sitting on the window sill. The colors and amazing detail on this ARTFXJ presentation will make it an instant favorite.
